Arab citizens of Israel are represented in political structures at both the national and local levels. Some of these leadership organisations are intertwined with the functions of the state, such as political parties and local governance. Other forms of Arab leadership, however, are nongovernmental or quasi-governmental in nature.
This briefing outlines the existing structures of Arab political leadership in Israel, at both the national and local levels. It also examines current participatory trends of Arab citizens of Israel and current challenges and opportunities facing Israel’s Arab minority.
